Children's Christmas Party

We don't do a whole lot of age segregation at our church, but this is one time of year we divide up for parties. Olivia, Emma and I took care of the under 12 children's party. We did a snowman theme and lots of fun. Oh, how I miss having little ones.

Snowmen

Use 2 large marshmallows and push them down on a large pretzel.

Using an orange fruit roll up cut some long triangles to make a nose,
these will stick on easily.

Then use another color fruit roll up to cut strips for the scarves.

Melt some white almond bark in a double boiler.
Dip one side of a fruit ring (like gummie bears),
this will be the 'glue' that holds the ring on the top of the snowman.

It helps to place them upside down to let them harden (about 5-10 minutes).

Using more almond bark do the same thing with a gumdrop.
You'll have to prop these upright until the 'glue' hardens.

Melt a small amount of semi sweet chocolate chips in a double boiler.
Using a toothpick dot on some eyes.

I used a large divided dish with extra marshmallows in it to help them
stand up for display and serving.

Olivia and Emma made snowman sandwiches using carrots, cranraisins, and raisins.
The insides were peanut butter and jelly.

Peanut butter dip for the apple slices.
Creamy peanut butter and honey.

I can't believe I forgot to get a picture of Olivia's Snowman Cheese ball.
Here is one she made last year.

The children made beaded snowflakes.
I explained to them how no two snowflakes are the same,
just as God created each of us differently.

We played Candy Cane Relay.

These are a great bunch of kids!

Tea Invitations and a Guest Book

This Tea's invitations were made with some torn paper,
a poem and dried baby's breath. On the inside it said:
Ana Smith is our guest of honor
May 25th at the Brodock Manor.
From 2:00-5:00 in the afternoon,
we look forward to receiving your RSVP soon.
Please do so by this date
May 19th,
for the tea will be at Highland Lake.

The Guest Book was made from some pretty paper and simple clip art on the computer.
Add some pretty ribbon to bind it and you have a beautiful keepsake.
On the inside each page had a Victorian flower and a Bible verse or a quote.
The front and back covers had poems about friends and tea, and a recipe.
The guest filled the pages with well wishes!

Hosting a Tea

We were honored to host a SURPRISE Sweet Sixteen Birthday Tea
for our friend Ana Smith.
This was loads of work, but so worth it! We planned tea for 40.

My WONDERFUL, SMART, CREATIVE husband designed this tent to go over the food table. After most of the serving was over we put the netting down on the other side to keep flies and bugs off the food, which is always a big problem when serving food outside.

Ana was TOTALLY...COMPLETELY SURPRISED!!!
We had a beautiful bunch of young ladies (and moms) in attendance!
Ya gotta love the hats and gloves!
This was the gift table, along with the goodie bags for everyone to take home.

The goodies bags were little satin bags that my friend Belle had given me.
Inside each one I placed a spiced tea bag,
a spoon that was filled with peppermint candy (melted then hardened),
the rose pins I made,
and a little scroll with a poem about friends and tea.

Sweet Hannah...just a swingin'.

Five tables with the topiaries that I made and roses scattered,
but none so beautiful as these sweet girls.

Olivia helping serve lemonade and iced tea.
We did have hot tea available...but it was 85 degrees outside. :o)
Olivia and Ana...kindred spirits.
Little girls and swings!
