Frugal Friday~Teach Them Well

This week's Frugal Tip is take your time now to train your children how to shop and cook.

Most of us stay at home moms are starting from scratch with everything. Not only are alot of us first generation Christians and having to learn 'what saith the Lord", but we are learning how to be submissive wives, how to pinch pennies, how to teach our children, how to keep house, etc...

Just think how much better off (hopefully!) our children will be when they reach adulthood because we have taken the time to teach them how to be frugal! Actually...we are learning together! :o)

Be sure to read over this week's topic of What to Do When your Daughter Hates to Be in he Kitchen!

I'm very lucky in that my daughter loves to be in the kitchen. She's going to be 23 in a few weeks. I'm of the more down-to-earth, home-style cooking type. She's the one into the exotic stuff...and the spicier, the better. I think I set a pretty good example for her in that I truly love to cook. It isn't 'drudge work' to me at all. In fact, it's better than therapy, IMHO. I think it is sad when people act as if you are lacking something if you like being domestic. I think anyone who refuses to bake cookies is the one who is lacking, LOL!

Kathy,

You're so right! I have 2 grown children, and I realize now that I could have taught them some of these things better. I kind of took it for granted that they would absorb what I was doing without specific teaching. I am trying to do better with the next group. I guess not everything is learned by example alone!

Thanks for your thoughts,

Martie
